Eyebrow FAQs
What does a microblading appointment look like?
Your appointment will be broken into 4 parts.

Consultation (30 min): Where we discuss your brow goals, map out a brow shape to suit your facial structure and discuss colour.
Numbing (25 min): 5% Lidocaine is applied to the skin to ensure maximum comfort.
Microblading (60-90 min): A combination of microblading strokes and strategic shading is used to create your custom dream brow. Numbing is reapplied during this time.
Aftercare Review (5 min): Aftercare package is given and instructions are reviewed.
Does it hurt?
While I never tell my clients to expect no pain, it is very reasonable to expect a 2/10 discomfort. Numbing is reapplied multiple times throughout the session. If you are nervous about pain, please free to send me a message so we can chat!
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Gently exfoliate your face (specifically the eyebrow area) the night before to remove any dry/dead skin cells. You can wear make up to your appointment if you feel more comfortable, I will remove what I need to beforehand! NSAIDS (Advil, Naproxen, Motren), Caffeine and alcohol are not recommended within 12 hours before your appointment - these work as blood thinning agents and can lead to more bleeding and scabbing and sub-optimal healing. I'm sorry about your morning coffee! You are welcome to enjoy these once the procedure is finished.
What does brow maintenance look like?
Maintenance for brows usually requires yearly touch ups but depends on your skin! Some people prefer to have touch ups every 6-12 months to keep them looking fresh and defined, while others wait up to 18 months. Typical would be yearly. In order to accommodate everyone's preferences I have updated my prices to be prorated depending on what you come back in. That way if you want to come more frequently, it's priced less!
Am I a candidate for microblading &/ or shading?
You are not a candidate for permanent make up if:

- You have thick and oily skin (message me)
- You get Keloid scarring
- You are on immunosuppressants
- You are taking anti-coagulants such as warfarin, regular naproxen or other NSAIDS
-You are pregnant or breastfeeding

- You have been on Accutane in the past year
- If you have high blood pressure, an autoimmune disease, are diabetic, have a heart condition, or have any difficulty healing you should consult your doctor before making an appointment

** If you have previous microblading, please be sure to send a photo of your current microblading before your appointment to ensure you are a candidate**
What's the difference between microblading and shading?
In short, microblading is done with a handheld tool (mini blade) that creates hair like strokes in the skin. This process does really well in dry to normal skin. It can be used in oily skin with slightly different techniques. Shading / combo/ powder/ Ombre brows are all techniques used with a semi permanent tattoo "gun" depositing micro dots of pigmentation. This tool can be used to draw lines (nano brow) or create shading (powder brow/ combo brow) to give the illusion of density and fullness. This brow approach does very well in oily skin types, those who struggle with microblading retention or those who are very active.
What's the difference between brow lamination and microblading?
There is no such thing as silly questions. Lamination is a process done to your existing eyebrow hair. Although it can make the hair you do have look thicker and fuller, it is only temporary (4-6 weeks) and is limited to the amount of existing hair you have. Those with little to no eyebrow hair are not a good candidate for lamination or tints. Microblading is a semi permanent tattoo process that is deposited into the skin giving the illusion of hair, therefore brow hair is not a requirement.
What is a brow lamination?
Brow lamination is the process of perming your existing eyebrow hairs in an upward direction, giving the illusion of fullness and texture. A tint can be added as well to darken the eyebrow hairs to make them pop and add a temporary skin tint underneath (lasting 5-10 days).

Brow laminations are basically a lash lift for your brows!
How long does a lamination +/or tint last?
Brow laminations typically last up to 6 weeks depending on your hair growth. They will stay with your brow hair until they grow out. The first 1-3 weeks your brows will remain in an upright position naturally, after about the 3 week mark they will remain very compliant but require a small amount of brushing (and maybe a little gel) to achieve the same look. A tint works on the hair the same way. It will grow out with your eyebrow hair slowly. The tint on the skin under the eyebrow hairs will typically last 5-10 days depending on activity.
